Known for our diverse architecture, vast public parks, and classic boutiques in our town center, New Canaan, CT began as an agricultural community while being known for shoemaking after the Revolutionary War. When the railroad came to New Canaan in 1868, many of New York City’s wealthy residents discovered our community and built summer homes, which eventually became year-round residences.
New Canaan’s famed architecture began to develop in the 1940s and 1950s as the Harvard Graduate School of Design migrated to our community and members of the “Harvard Five” (Philip Johnson, Marcel Breuer, Landis Gores, John M. Johansen, and Eliot Noyes) began to practice their skill, attracting other well-known architects like Frank Lloyd Wright and other lesser-known designers to the area.
Local boutiques, businesses, and national chain stores can be found in our downtown area, including Ralph Lauren and Ralph Lauren Children, Ann Taylor, J. McLaughlin, Papyrus, Vineyard Vines, Le Pain Quotidien, and Starbucks, among others. Most major banks, many wealth management firms, and several hedge funds like JP Morgan Chase, Merrill Lynch, Wells Fargo, UBS, Citibank, and Bank of America maintain a presence in New Canaan as well.

Hearing Assessments
In spite of the fact that hearing loss is the third most common physical health condition in America, most people regularly have their eyes, teeth, cholesterol, and blood checked regularly but tend to put off hearing tests as a part of their health screening regimen.
The World Health Organization reports that 1 in 8 individuals experience some level of hearing loss and predicts a doubling of hearing loss cases over the next 30 years, which makes regular hearing assessments a critical part of monitoring your health.

A device combining a variable sound attenuator with a hearing device, (such as a hearing aid or tinnitus device) that allows a user to adjust the amount of attenuation of environmental sound in a variable, continuous fashion or in a discrete controlled fashion from zero attenuation to maximum attenuation without removing the device from the ear. The attenuator includes a housing having a passageway, the passageway allowing for sound to pass through the housing and a variable control, the variable control able to control the size of the passageway through the housing and the device including a second passageway for transmitting amplified sound from the hearing device into the ear of the wearer.

The present invention relates to a system for improving a user's hearing and more particularly to a receiver system used in the system. In one embodiment, the receiver system has a housing and a plurality of arms extending from the housing for positioning and suspending the receiver within the ear canal of a user. Each of the arms may be formed from a flexible, plastic material or a bendable wire. In a second embodiment, the receiver system is surrounded by a disc formed from a sound filtering material. When installed in a combination instrument, the receiver is separated from the microphone. When installed in a tinnitus/hyperacusis device, the receiver is separated from the body of the instrument.

The device is preferably open ear. The device is preferably programmable. The device can also include a hearing aid for amplifying ambient sounds. Preferred method of treatment in 90% of tinnitus cases in the U.S.
November 9, 1999: Ear wax collection device for a hearing aid. Patent 5,982,908 (Bauman, N. ) An in-the-ear hearing aid in accordance with the present invention has a housing shaped to fit within a user's ear, and a sound passageway within the housing. The sound passageway includes a fixed tube communicating with a receiver. The sound passageway further includes a removable tube whose interior end abuts the fixed tube and an ear wax trap adjacent the interior end. In a preferred embodiment, the ear wax trap is formed from a mesh material. In accordance with the present invention, the removable tube with its integral ear wax trap may be removed as needed to clean the trap. After cleaning, the removable tube with its ear wax trap may be reinserted into the hearing aid.
