As an early settlement in New England, our community is home to several National Register of Historic Places sites, like the Cheshire Historic and Marion Historic Districts, the Farmington Canal Lock, and the First Congregational Church of Cheshire.
Like most of the towns in New England, Meriden, CT began with the placement of a meetinghouse and green, which drew the community together. Our community began to thrive in the late 1800s as the manufacture of silver and cutlery, lamps and metalware, glassware, kitchen appliances, guns, and musical instruments (including player pianos) transformed it into an industrial center.
Much of our community’s fame faded until after World War II when Meriden was on the international map as a site for design innovation thanks to the Miller Company Collection of Abstract Art, and later the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, established by the notable art collector, which addresses learning disabilities, the arts, and the environment.
Our history and culture have been kept alive thanks to more than a half-dozen National Registry of Historic Places sites, including Hubbard Park’s Castle Craig, the Curtis Memorial Library, Red Bridge, the Solomon Goffe House, and several others. Our community’s quiet way of life promotes opportunities to interact with nature along the Meriden Linear Trail, Mattabesett Trail, and the Metacomet Trail.
Being able to hear better keeps you connected with the world around you, enhancing your lifestyle and enriching your quality of life. Thanks to our co-founder, Dr. Bauman, who continues to have a major impact on the hearing care industry, and our AVI New England clinic in Hamden, residents of Meriden, CT and nearby communities can stay connected through personalized and local solutions to address hearing loss, tinnitus, balance disorders, and other hearing care services we provide.

Hearing Assessments
When Was Your Last Hearing Test?
Most people regularly have their eyes, teeth and bloodwork tested but rarely do they include checking their hearing.
It is reported that hearing loss is the third most common physical health condition, impacting globally 1 in 8 individuals. The World Health Organization predicts that hearing loss will almost double in the next 30 years; this makes a regular hearing assessment critically important.
The biggest challenge is that hearing loss often occurs slowly and gradually, making it almost impossible to notice on a day-to-day change.
Typically, our loved ones are first to notice that we are experiencing a hearing challenge before we do.
Having a regular hearing assessment allows for early detection of hearing loss ensuring the right preventive measures are taken so that your hearing health is optimally cared for.
If you are concerned about your hearing or a loved one’s hearing, we highly encouraged you to schedule a hearing assessment with our expert hearing doctors. It is quick, non-invasive, and you’ll receive the results immediately.
