Jabra Enhance Plus

The Jabra Enhance Plus was an earbud-style over-the-counter hearing aid built to make speech clearer. It’s discontinued, but our team still services and supports it at our Hamden, Norwalk, and Branford offices.

The Jabra Enhance Plus is an earbud-style over-the-counter hearing aid made by GN, the company behind ReSound, and designed to make speech clearer for adults with mild to moderate hearing loss. It has been discontinued, but we continue to service and support it at AVI New England, so if you own a pair, you still have a local team to bring them to.

A Hearing Aid Built to Look Like Earbuds

Jabra designed the Enhance Plus to look and wear like a pair of wireless earbuds while running hearing aid sound processing inside. Each earbud weighs under 3 grams, and both charge in a case small enough for a coin pocket. Instead of being programmed in a clinic, the Enhance Plus is set up through the Jabra Enhance app on an iPhone, which walks you through a short hearing check and builds a separate sound profile for each ear. It was aimed at people who noticed trouble following conversation but were not yet ready for prescription hearing aids.

What the Jabra Enhance Plus Offers

Most of these features center on one goal: helping you follow the person you are talking to, especially when the room is not quiet.

  • Speech Amplification: Boosts the pitch ranges where speech sits, so voices come through more clearly in everyday conversation.
  • Directional Microphones: Focus on sound coming from in front of you, which helps when you are facing the person speaking in a busy room.
  • Noise Reduction: Softens steady background noise and sudden sharp sounds, such as clattering dishes, so they compete less with speech.
  • Feedback Suppression: Automatically limits the whistling that can happen when amplified sound leaks back into the microphone.
  • Personalized Hearing Profile: The in-app hearing check sets each ear separately, and the same settings apply to music and calls you stream.
  • iPhone Streaming and Battery: Streams audio from compatible iPhones, with hands-free calls on iPhone 11 or later, and Jabra rates each charge at about 10 hours.

Keeping Your Enhance Plus Working Well

Discontinued does not have to mean unsupported. Dr. Natan Bauman, who founded our practice, has spent four decades working with a wide range of hearing devices, and our team can help you get the most from your Enhance Plus. That includes checking the fit of your ear tips, cleaning the earbuds and charging contacts, troubleshooting Bluetooth pairing and the Jabra Enhance app, and reviewing your hearing profile so the settings still match how you hear.

It also helps to know where this device has limits. Over-the-counter hearing aids are intended for mild to moderate hearing loss, and the Enhance Plus can sound thin with music, pick up wind noise outdoors, and make your own voice sound louder than expected. If your hearing has changed since you bought it, we will tell you so honestly and walk you through prescription options from Phonak, Oticon, ReSound, Signia, Starkey, and Widex.
